Alison's Card Game was commissioned by her daughter Erin in loving memory of Alison Ruth Embody. Endless summers at the Jersey Shore inspired the starfish, while the Ace of Hearts, tiny hearts, dice, flowers, and red, white, and blue details hold the games, laughter, and family traditions around her.

A butterfly adds a sense of presence and movement, as though the memories are still circulating through the piece. It is playful because Alison was more than a loss. She was a whole life, full of fun, love, and stories worth keeping on display.
